IPR director assures to promote evening daily newspaper

Imphal, April 25: Director of DIPR, Meghachandra Kongbam today assures to look after the difficulties faced by the evening daily of the state.
Protesting the step motherly treatment to evening newspapers published here in the state of Manipur a group of Editors today staged sit-in-protest in front of the Director, IPR office at Moirangkhom.
The protest was staged after the Govt. Department considered only big newspapers as the only medium to show respect to the War Heroes of Kongjom Day.
It was not about neglecting the Eveningers in Khongjom Day but at most of the times the evening daily were sideline when comes to take up welfare measures for the existence of the newspaper.
The protest demands a proper policy for survival of the evening daily newspaper.
Responding to the protest Director, IPR, Meghachandra Kongbam said that a separate policy for small newspaper particularly the evening daily will be worked out soon. He said the government is entitled to support all small media and will do the same for upliftment of the newspapers.
