IPAK celebrates 12th Foundation Day, launches mega health camps across Manipur

The Indigenous People’s Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) celebrated its 12th Foundation Day on Sunday at its head office, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and rights of indigenous communities in Manipur.
Presiding over the event, IPAK President Ksh. Somorendro was joined by prominent figures including Y. Dilip Kumar (Consultant, COCOMI & UCM), R.K. Sanahanbi (President, Kanglei Ima Lup), T. Sanajouba (President, ERDO), and T. Beerjit (Working President, Loya Lup). Discussions focused on the ongoing challenges faced by indigenous communities and IPAK’s continued advocacy and support.
Coinciding with the Foundation Day celebrations, IPAK announced a series of Mega Health Camps to be held across Kouttruk, Sekmai, Yaiganpokpida, and Bisnupur District throughout September 2025. The camps aim to provide essential medical services to underserved areas, reflecting IPAK’s longstanding commitment to community welfare, including past campaigns against terrorism and support for conflict-affected populations.
During the event, leaders highlighted IPAK’s ongoing “Save Indigenous People” campaign and collaborations with allied organizations, including the Federation of Regional Indigenous Societies (FREINDS). The gathering also addressed recent security concerns in Red Zone areas of Manipur, with IPAK outlining plans to tackle these challenges through advocacy, coordination, and direct support for affected communities.
Closing the celebrations, President Ksh. Somorendro urged unity and solidarity among indigenous people, emphasizing the importance of collective action and continued health initiatives to meet both immediate and long-term community needs.
This year’s 12th Foundation Day reaffirmed IPAK’s mission to safeguard indigenous communities, highlighting both its achievements and the ongoing struggles of the people of Manipur.
