Involvement of Politicians rise the drug related cases in the state

Issues of illegal drug related cases are on the rise in the state of Manipur due to the involvement of elected representatives of the people. This was stated by Nongpoknganba,Lt. col. Of the 165 Infantry Battalion (H&H) Assam while speaking on the International Day Against Drug and Illicit Trafficking in Khangabok of Thoubal district.
On the occasion organized by Peace Institute for Alcoholic & Drug Addiction Center, Khangabok under the them ‘Share Drug Facts to Save Lives’, the Lt. Col. Said that there are instances of illegal drugs seized and recovered from the official quarters and vehicles of elected representatives in the state of Manipur.
Lt. Col. Nongpoknganba said that Manipur has been facing lot of trouble due to drug abuse and trafficking problem since a very long time and till today there are still apprehensions about the safety of the youths of the state from the menace of drugs. Now, another trend of cultivating poppy is taking place which not only is a big concern for drug used but also give a great impact to the ecological imbalance to the society.
“It is next to impossible that Poppy Plantation in far flung hill areas are conducted without the knowledge of the village chiefs or the king.
Appealing to the youths, particularly to the users, Nongpoknganba said that every one of us should try to lead a meaningful healthy life which is free from drugs. Those users should also have full determination to quit the bad habit for the cause of their love one and family.
