International Seminar on Prof. Nongmaithem Tombi Singh held in Agartala

A one-day international seminar on the life and works of late Prof. Nongmaithem Tombi Singh was organised by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Tripura in collaboration with Nongmaithem Foundation, Manipur at the Sahitya Akademi Hall, Nazrul Kalakshetra, Agartala.
President of Bangladesh Manipuri Sahitya Sangsad, Sylhet, A.K. Sheram attended the inaugural session as chief guest. During the programme, Kshetrimayum Madhabi was conferred the Nongmaithem Tombi Ningsing Mana for the first time.
The seminar featured presentations by L. Briramangal, W. Brimangal, Dr. Anuradha Nongmaithem, Kabrabam Dhiren, K. Birola and L. Mina. A special poetry recitation session dedicated to late Prof. Tombi Singh was also conducted by poets from Tripura.
Speakers highlighted the immense contributions of Prof. Nongmaithem Tombi Singh to Manipuri literature, literary criticism and cultural studies. They described him as a pioneering literary critic whose writings continue to inspire scholars and readers.
The seminar also focused on the importance of preserving regional languages and literary traditions in the era of globalization. Participants, including researchers and students, discussed the relevance of Prof. Tombi Singh’s works in understanding the socio-cultural realities of Northeast India and contemporary literary discourse.
