A book focused on Armed Forces Special Power’s Act, 1958, entitled as ‘India’s war on Democracy’ was released today at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
Speaking on the inaugural function as a presidium member, Homen Thangjam, Assistant Professor, MB College said that the book ‘India’s war on Democracy’ shows the historical account of the act – AFSPA, 1958. The book is a gift to the young scholars, not only from Manipur but from across the country who are willing to do an in-depth research about AFSPA, said Homen.
Author of the book, Malem Ningthouja had completed Ph. D. in History from the University of Delhi and is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal Revolutionary Democracy. He said the book is all about the various draconian acts being enforced under the shadow of the Indian democracy.
Economist, Chinglen Meisnam and Babloo Loitongbam, Director, HRA attended the function. And a book entitled as ‘Maheiroi’ was also published by Manipur Student’s Association Delhi.
