INC emerges as single largest party in Manipur ADC Polls

The Indian National Congress has emerged as the single largest party in the 144 seats Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls declared today. The party won in 46 seats. The NPF came out victorious in 43 seats trailing behind INC. The BJP could win only in 21 seats while 34 Independent candidates manage to get elected.
Polling for 132 seats was held on June 1. The six ADCs have a total of 144 seats, but 12 seats had already been declared elected uncontested.
The total number of candidates was 506, but seven from INC, four from Naga People’s Front (NPF) and one from BJP were declared elected uncontested before the poll schedule. The counting of vote started at 8 am. yesterday.

Counting of Votes for 19 out of 24 seats was held at DRDA Conference Hall in Chandel District.
Since 8 am yesterday, the counting of votes for the 19 District Council Constituencies (DCC) was started at which 86 candidates from different political parties including an independent candidates are in the fray. The counting continued throughout the whole night and concluded at around 2 in the early morning today.
1-Khoibu DCC Morungson Maring (INC), 2-Machi DCC kh. Morung Maring (IND), 3-Langol DCC Ch. Meshil Ranjit Maring (INC), 5-Rilram Centre DCC Ksm. Mathew Maring (NPF), 7-Aimol Tampak DCC Ch. Chanthoi Aimol (BJP), 8-Komlathabi DCC Th.Joy Lamkang (IND) , 9-Purum DCC Th. Hopeson Chothe (NPF) , 10-Aihang DCC Ringo Dilbung (INC), 11-Pantha DCC Sh. Manglem (IND) , 12-District Headquarters DCC Ts. Willingson Anal (IND), 13-Vomku DCC Ts. Kanlun Anal (NPF) , 18-Songjang DCC T. Seikhothang Haokip (BJP), 19-Chakpikarong DCC Warngam Nula (NPF), 20-Wangkhira DCC KT. Hari Anal (IND) , 21-Toupokpi DCC Dy. Holngam (IND), 22-Sugnu Hill area DCC Ngamkholal Baite (INC), 23-Sajik Tampak DCC M. Khupkholen Haokip (INC), 24-Tolbung DCC M. Limkhojam Haokip (INC) were declared elected after defeating their respective rival candidates.
All together, out of the 24 seats in Chandel ADC, Indian National Congress (INC) won 11seats (including 5 elected unopposed) and Naga People’s Front (NPF) won 5 seats. While Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got only 2 seats and Independent Candidates won 6 seats.
5 Congress Candidates who were elected uncontested are from 6-Sita DCC (S. Tongpao Mate), 14-Sibong DCC (Ngamthang Mate) , 15-Moreh C DCC (Gotinlam Gangte) , 16- Moreh B DCC (Lhukhosei Zou) and 17- Moreh A DCC (T. Jangkhongam Baite).
