Vehicular movement along the Imphal-Ukhrul road continue to be paralysed on the second say as bandh supporters in large numbers blocked the road. At least 7 vehicles including a Bolero, 2 passenger auto and two maruti cars were dismantle by bandh supporters at Seijang area in Imphal-Ukhrul road. A pulsar two wheeler vehicle was also set ablaze by the bandh supporters at Gwaltabi area. However, there are no reports of any human casualty.
The indefinite bandh along the Imphal-Gwaltabi road begins since yesterday morning after the state government failed to implement the assurance given to the people of Gwaltabi villagers, whose properties and houses were destroyed by a group of people on April 30. An agreement has been reached in the presence of government representatives on May 3 after the Chief of Thawai Village tender apology. As the government authority had failed to implement the assurance given to them even after May 15, the JAC formed against the incident.
According to a JAC member, the Chief Minister had invited for talk with the agitators through the local MLA Ksh Biren. However, as of now (4pm) the JAC members did not give any response to the invitation.
Mentioned may be made that bandh supporters yesterday vandalise 5 four wheeler vehicles for violating the agitation called by the people.
