Life in Imphal remains paralyzed as the state government enforces a strict curfew for the third consecutive day, significantly affecting daily activities. Commercial vehicles have been absent from the roads, and all shops and business establishments remain shuttered. The curfew, imposed to maintain law and order in the wake of ongoing tensions, has brought the city to a near standstill.
Public transport has been halted, leaving citizens with no means to travel, while even essential goods and services face severe disruptions. The scarcity of essential supplies has added to the difficulties faced by the residents. With markets closed, many people are struggling to access basic necessities, forcing them to rely on limited supplies.
Government employees are also facing restrictions on movement. Reports indicate that vehicles carrying government staff are being stopped at the Keishampat Bridge, one of the key approach roads to Raj Bhavan. This has created further delays in official duties and government operations, compounding the challenges in managing the ongoing crisis.
The curfew has also disrupted essential services and emergency medical access, with hospitals reporting delays in receiving supplies and staff. While the government has not provided a clear timeline for when the restrictions might be eased, security forces are closely monitoring the situation across sensitive areas of the city.
Local authorities have advised residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. The continued curfew has heightened concerns about the economic impact on small businesses, daily wage earners, and families already struggling due to the prolonged unrest in the region.
