Imphal, Dec 27:

Th. Sujata, Convenor of Imagi Meira, alleged harassment by the Delhi Police during her recent visit to the national capital. Speaking to the press at the Imphal airport upon her return, Th. Sujata detailed incidents where she claimed her rights were violated while attempting to participate in programs highlighting issues in Manipur.
According to Th. Sujata, her troubles began on December 11, when she was scheduled to travel to Delhi but was unable to do so. She reached the capital on December 10, intending to participate in events marking International Human Rights Day. However, she stated, “Even after reaching Delhi, I was prevented from attending the program.”
She recounted that on December 12, during the Nupi Lal commemoration, a police officer, ASI Arvind, came to her room at Brindapur Police Station and stopped her from attending the event. “He assured me I would be released after the program, but instead, they kept me under house arrest,” she said. Sujata alleged that two male and two female constables were stationed to monitor her movements, effectively restricting her from going anywhere.
The harassment reportedly continued when she managed to reach Jantar Mantar. “They came and took me to the Central Secretariat Police Station, preventing me from participating in the program,” Sujata claimed. She further stated that she attempted to file a complaint at the Brindapur Police Station, but it was not accepted.
Sujata also alleged interference with her plans to attend an event on December 23. “They even took me to the venue but made a U-turn and confined me to my room instead of allowing me to participate,” she said.
Sujata accused the Manipur government of orchestrating these actions. “It must be the state government directing the Delhi Police to harass me,” she alleged, adding that her efforts to highlight the problems in Manipur were being systematically suppressed. She has filed complaints with human rights organizations, accusing the police of violating her fundamental rights.
“We came out to highlight the problems in the state, but instead, I faced repeated harassment,” Sujata concluded, expressing her determination to continue fighting for justice and raising awareness about Manipur’s plight.
