IMA urges govt. to declare hospital as protected zone

Imphal, June 16:

A statement by Indian Medical Association, Manipur state Branch said that about 700 doctors in the country, including 6 doctors from our state have died during the second wave of COVID pandemic.
However, the healthcare workers across the state and the country work tirelessly to mitigate the disaster and serve humanity, it added.
The IMA expressed dissatisfaction to unfortunate incident of violence at the COVID workplaces, that are reported from time to time even during this critical hour.
“The recent incident of violence at JNIMS ICU is deplorable. The IMA state branch demanded to enforce Central Hospital and Healthcare Professional Protection Act with IPC & CrPC tag and to declare Hospital as declared as a protected zone. It also urged to punish culprits under fast-track mode with stringent punishment.
The IMA Manipur State Branch said that they will observe the 18th of June, 2021 as a part of the IMA National Protest Day with the object to “stop assault on profession and professionals” with the slogan “SAVE THE SAVIORS”.
