ILPS protests continue

Imphal, June 17: As part of the ongoing demand for implementation of ILPS in the state, different meira paibis, local clubs and organizations today staged protests by blocking the road of Wangbal to Pallel stretch.
Meira Paibis of Wangbal, Pallel and Khongjom blocked one side of the road in protest demanding the implementation of ILPS in the state. Sit-in-protests were staged along the Wangbal- Pallel stretch.
Huge number of women folks and Meira Paibis of Pallel and Khongjom also staged sit-in-protest at Pallel Bazar and Khongjom Bazar. Placards demanding the implementation of ILPS were also put up during the protest.
A Meira Paibi agitator said that until the Bills for ILPS are converted into act, different forms of agitations will continue. During the protest, tires were burnt, woods and logs were used to block the road.
Slogans demanding immediate implementation of ILPS in the state were shouted. Commercial vehicles including police vehicles were made to turn back from the blocked roads.
