Imphal, May 10: Agitation demanding implementation for Inner Line Permit System in the state once more turned ugly at Uripok Kangchup road here in Imphal after a male police officer allegedly assaulted a lady protestor at Uripok Sorbon Thingel Gopalji Leirak on the evening of May 8.
Even after the JCILPS had made an understanding with the local club and Meira Paibi organisation of Uripok area, a JAC formed against the assault of the lady protestor today enforced complete blockade at Kangchup road in between Uripok Gopalji Leirak to Naoremthong. Even Police and paramilitary vehicles were not allowed to pass through the road stressed.
In addition to the demand for ILPS in the state, the JAC now demanded legal action against the police personnel who had assaulted a lady mercilessly. Blaming the local MLAs for failure to listen to the grievances of the people, the JAC also decided to boycott the local MLA Nandakumar. The local clubs and Meira Paibi organisations of Uripok area had resolved to stand together and support to any decision of the lady who sustain injury in the police brutality.
The lady Taorangbam Tarini (Taini) has been undergoing fast unto death protest demanding appropriate action against the police officer who had assaulted her since  May 9 morning. Her condition is deteriorating and government authority had sent ambulance to pick up at any time. However, till 2 pm the state government were left with no choice as they can’t pick up the lady due to legal restriction.
Due to the unannounced bandh, commuters along the route faced extreme inconveniences. A person who had tried to defy the bandh was thrash by bandh supporter near Goplaji area at around noon. Many people have to take alternative route to return home as they do not get any information about the bandh.

Even I had to reach RIMS for a patient, and returned home heartbroken. “You’re going to RIMS and you don’t have any documents”, yelled one so-called meira paibi. Now the logic is, when you attend a relative in hospital, is it necessary you must and should have document as proof. No coordination, acting at will, definitely this is going to malign a just and noble movement very soon and people who truly supports such movement will also going to spit on them. Good for nothing addicts and workless so-called thira paibis are maligning the images of the noble movement.

As said by Raj, the noble movement should not be maligned by unnecessary torture to any passerby in the name of bandh and blockade that to genuine reasons.
