ILP protest grows momentum; Khwairambandh Keithel dispersed ; 3 women injured in police action

At least 3 (three) women injured today afternoon when police fired tear gas shells to prevent them from staging protest demonstration.
Markets in and around the city have been dispersed following the incident.
Demanding to implement the permit system, vendor women of Khwairamband markets formed human chain at Samu Makhong. After which they marched a protest rally at the area. Soon after they start the rally police personnel rushed at the spot.
While confronting, the security forces and vendor women clashed for some time. Police fired tear gas shells to control the mob.
All Khuyathong Nupi Lup and Nagamapal women groups also formed human chain at Khuyathong traffic point and Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak respectively.
Manipur University Students Union also staged sit-in-protest in front of the University gate.
Vehicular movement during the series of agitation around the Khwairamband market has been disrupted.
Meanwhile, women wing of the JCILPS condemn the assault of girl student by a police officer in front of the Secretariat office. They appealed immediate punishment of the police officer.
