IKAL observes 13th Foundation Day, mothers with not less than 6 children honoured

Iramdam Kanba Apunba Lup (IKAL) observed its 13th Foundation Day under the theme “Let Us Unite for Tomorrow” at the community hall of Soibam Leikai Ayangpali Youth Club.
The event was attended by members of the organisation, community leaders, and invitees from different regions. Speaking on the occasion, IKAL Secretary General Luwangleima stated that the foundation day was marked by honouring mothers who have played a significant role in preserving and nurturing society.
She noted that although many Manipuris settled outside the state, particularly in Assam and Tripura, they could not attend the programme due to the ongoing state elections, a few representatives were present. Some members of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community from the Barak Valley also participated in the event.
Highlighting the initiative, Luwangleima said that mothers aged 40 and above who have given birth to more than five children would be honoured with cash and certificates in recognition of their contributions.
As part of the celebration, IKAL also organised a cultural programme. The IKAL Secretary General Luwangleima reiterated its commitment to working for the welfare of the people of Manipur and pledged to collaborate with various civil society organisations to promote unity and social development.
According to organisers, the recognition was given to mothers aged 40 and above who have given birth to more than five children.
The first honour was awarded to Arambam Thoithoi Devi (40), wife of Arambam Ibohanbi of Nongsum Maning Leikai, who has eight children. The second recipient was Nongthongbam Yashoda Leima (38), wife of N. Nanao of Ekou Thangal Surung, who has six children. The third awardee, Takhellambam Naobi (40), wife of T. Nabadit of Kwatha village and currently residing at Lamboikhongnakhong Relief Camp, has six children.
The awardees were presented with cash prizes and certificates in recognition of their contributions.
The function was attended by several prominent personalities, including Naorem Memma IKAL President,Kh. Ibomcha MLA Lamlai Assembly constituency, Yumnam Joykumar Independent Director BSE India, Laishram Boby former Chairperson of Imphal West Zilla Parishad, Adhikarimayum Ridimala IKAL Advisor, Puyam Joy Advisor of League of Indigenous People Upliftment (LIPUL), Thokchom Somendro President LIPUL, Longjam Thonglen President of Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Singpanglup (AIMS), RV Zimik Advisor of Foothill Naga Co-ordinating Committee and, Pukhrambam Jishunu General Secretary of Bishnupriya Manipuri Maha Sabha Barak Valley, among other dignitaries
