Ensuring a steady supply of ice to fishermen in the ShamushangShantipur area, an ice plant was inaugurated today by the Chairman of Manipur Industrial Development Corporation Limited (MANIDCO), MLA Kongkham Robindro, Heisnam Balkrishna, Director, Fisheries Department and Okram Jibanlata, Joint Director were also present during the inauguration function.
During his speech, MLA Kongkham Robindro urged all residents of the state to consume only fish produced by state fish farmers rather than imported fish. Robindro stated that the price of fish imported from other states is lower than the price of fish produced in Manipur locally, but we don’t know what chemicals are used in preserving the imported fish. He also urges people not to buy imported fish for health reasons, even if the price is low.
