Inaugural programme of 30 days Skill cum Vocational Training Programmes for Rejuvenating Livelihoods of Inmates in Relief Camps under Imphal West District of Manipur State was organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendras, (Chandel. Churachandpur, Imphal West, Tamenglong& Ukhrul) in collaboration with Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission & District administration Imphal-West, Manipur on the 27th September, 2023 at Recent Higher Secondary School, Sagoltongba, Imphal West, Manipur.
The function was graced by Laishram Boby Devi, Up-Adhyaksha, Zilaparisad, Imphal-West, Government of Manipur as Chief Guest, K Jadumani Singh, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West, Government of Manipur as Guest of Honours.Dr. Ramgopal Laha, Head of Regional Centre, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre as Presided over the function. During the inaugural session, Shri K.Jadumani Singh highlighted the importance of activities of beekeeping, mushroom cultivation and vermicomposting and stressed the need of making the programme really meaningful by imbibing the finer details of the various techniques imparted during the month-long vocational training programme. Smt. Laishram Boby Devi stressed on the need for working sincerely and iterated that hard work can overcome any obstacles and lead to success.
Dr. Ramgopal Laha, HORC, Manipur Centre addressed the gathering and wished them success in adopting the various scientific techniques to be taught during the programme. He assured that if any of the participants desires for further in-depth knowledge, the said programme may be further extended upto 7 days.
Altogether 93 inmates of Relief Camp at Recent Higher Secondary School, Sagoltongba, Imphal West, participated in the said programme. After the inaugural session, technical session was started on hands on training programme on Food processing and mushroom cultivation.
Dr. Kh. Rishikanta Singh, Sr. Scientist, (Agril. Economics)in his welcome and keynote address, expressed his gratitude to all the dignitaries and inmates for participating inspite of busy schedule within a short notice during the prevailing restive situation.He mentioned that the training module was formulated on need-based manner after an extensive survey of the needs of the inmates in the various relief camps and also mentioned that a total of 13 numbers of relief camps and 435 persons of these 13 relief camps under Imphal West District will be covered.
Dr. Th. Motilal Singh, Sr. Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK, Imphal West proposed the vote of thanks. The inaugural programme was coordinated by Dr. K. Sonamani Singh, CTO, ICAR-KVK Chandel. All the staffs of KVKs and ICAR Manipur Centre actively involved in the programme.
