‘I will urge the government to open hospital for old-aged people’

Imphal, Oct. 1: On State Level Observation of International Day of Older Persons 2017, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Smt Nemcha Kipgen called upon the attention of all the NGOs and stakeholders to lend necessary assistance to those older persons in distress and open doors for them. The Minister also assured that she will urge the Government to open hospital specially meant for old-aged people. This was stated by Minister gracing the occasion as Chief Guest at the function held today at Khunthokhanbi Sanglen, Thangmeiband, Imphal.
Stressing on the theme of this year “Stepping into the Future: Tapping the Talents, Contributions and Participation of Older Persons in Society”, Minister Nemcha Kipgen highlighted the major contributions of the older persons in moulding our society and enlightening us with the rays of development. Wherever we, as a society stand today, major credit goes to them.
On this occasion, Social Welfare department presented gifts as a token of appreciation to the older persons present at the function today.
The event was also graced by Commissioner, Social Welfare Shri H. Deleep Singh, IAS, Director, Social Welfare Smt Jacintha Lazarus, IAS and Joint Director, Social Welfare Smt Surrender A. Shishak as President and Guests of Honour respectively.
