Former chief of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) RK Sanayaima also known as Meghen today broke down with tears and passion as large number of people received him at Imphal Airport which was named after his great grandfather – Bir Tikendrajit International Airport today afternoon.

This is perhaps the first time for Meghen to appear in public in his homeland after he went underground in 1975.

Talking to reporters the rebel leader who had completed conviction for waging war against the Government of India and released on November 9 but arrived here in his homeland only today said that he will continue to live with the people till his last breath. 

“I have been with the people I have never done anything to forfeit the trust and love of the people I will do so till the end of my life”, Meghen said answering on his further plan.

He said, “People have trusted me I have uphold the trust.”

He further added that it is because of the people of the state that he is among the people here today otherwise he might have been faced unwanted consequences when he was arrested in Bangladesh.

Speaking about the burning Naga issue,  Meghen said that he never believe that the Government of India will do anything to distort the integrity of Manipur while settling the Naga issues saying that such imagination will be hypothesis. 

“”That is a hypothesis, I don’t think the Government of India will do anything to compromise  the overall integrity of Manipur, because I understand that the Government of India is led by matured people”, Meghen said.

He said that the issue is a matter between the Naga organisation and the Government of India. The former rebel leader however said that the people of Manipur have all the reason to be very sensitive about this issue because people are apprehensive that the agreement that may cook Naga group may affect Manipur’s overall integrity.

Regarding the present issues of Manipur Meghen said it as complex

“The issues in Manipur are complex but if the people stand together firmly no want can destroyed the unity of the state. I believe that the government of India will do anything to disturb the overall integrity of Manipur”, Meghen said.

Former Chief of UNLF, RK Meghen, after being away from his home state Manipur for 44 long years, returned to the state and landed at Bir Tikendrajit airport at 1.27 pm today. He arrived in an indigo flight along with his son, RK Chinglen.

He was given a warm reception at his home at Yaiskul Janmasthan . Before that Meghen visited and offer his prayer at Kangla and Hicham Yaichampat.

While trying to visit Kangla Meghen along with the large number of people was stopped at Moirangkhom. After his wife sought permission he along with his family was allowed to enter Kangla at around 2.30 pm .
