A 36 years old person stabbed his wife to death following an altercation late yesterday evening at Chengkhu village in Chandel district under Chandel Police station. The deceased wife is identified as Bemnu Baite, about 31 years old and the accused husband has been identified as Kanhring Thapa (about 36 years old), son of Purne Thapa. They have been staying at the village temporarily since some years ago along with their 3 children.
The incident reportedly happened at around 9.30 pm yesterday. Soon after the incident villagers of the area overpowered the accused husband and handed him over to Chandel police.
Early today morning the villagers demolished the house of the accused as according to the customary law of Anal community.
The accused Kanhring Thapa is in police custody while the deceased wife has been handed over to relatives after conducting post mortem at JNIMS today.
