Imphal, Jan 20:

The Hun-Thadou Cultural Festival 2025 is set to take place on April 4 in Guwahati, Assam, according to a joint press release by Thadou Community International(TCI), Thadou Inpi Manipur(TIM) & Thadou Students’ Association (TSA)- GHQ. This event will highlight the cultural heritage of the Thadou community, symbolizing renewal, growth, and the connection to the sprouting of newly sown seeds.
A joint press release by TCI, TSA and TIM said, “Hun, officially recognized as a restricted holiday in Manipur, has been celebrated for generations. This year’s decision to host the festival in Guwahati reflects an effort to include Thadou individuals living outside Manipur and to create an inclusive and safe environment for the celebration.”
The event also aims to reaffirm the Thadou Tribe’s unique identity and heritage, particularly in Assam, where the Thadou are recognized as an Indigenous Tribe. The festival provides a platform to celebrate the distinct cultural legacy of the Thadou people while addressing misconceptions linking the community exclusively with Kuki identity, the press release added.
An Organizing Committee has been formed to ensure the success of the festival, with sub-committees managing key areas such as guest coordination, finance, publications, cultural programs, hospitality, logistics, and community mobilization. These teams are working tirelessly to make the event a memorable experience.
