Speaking to media persons on behalf of the striking homeguards, a company commander Md Tombi said the association of homeguards has been demanding an increase in their duty allowances as per the directive of the Supreme Court on March 11, 2015. However, very unfortunately for the homeguard employees neither the concerned department nor the state government took up any measures for its implementation, he added. Tombi complained that with the Rs 5000 salary they are recieving per month they found it insufficient of running their families and consequences they are encountering family crisis. The homeguards are performing their duties not less seriously than any other branch of the state police force, he said added that despite the number of agitation and protest rally, none of the concerned department or the state government have come up with any solution. If their demands are not met at the earliest, different forms of agitations will be taken and he is contemplating taking his own life, said Md Tombi.
