Home Department of Manipur has asked the Police Department, Government of Manipur to furnish action taken report against the kidnappers and four police personnel of Manipur Police who were involved in abducting one H.K. Vaiphei.
Sources said that the President’s Secretariat (Public Section), Rastrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, ordered to the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur regarding this.
The source further said that H.K. Vaiphei was abducted by some persons including four personnel of Manipur Police on 17th October, 2012 and tortured in their custody. He was abducted after he lodged a complaint to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) against charging of unbearable interest by financial organization called North East Region Fin Services Ltd (NERFS).
Thereafter, H.K. Vaiphei was pick up some police personnel and took to Lamphel Police Station and referred to Singjamei Police Station on the 18th October 2012 with fabricated charges. He was remanded to Sajiwa Jail and released on bail. When he submitted a written complaint to Heingang Police Station, concern officials refused to register any FIR. Even after he lodged a complaint in the court of CJM, Imphal East as no action had been taken up by Heingang Police. After that he submitted a representation to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, praying for appropriate action against the kidnappers. However, no action had been taken up. He finally wrote a letter Union Home Minister and copied the same to the Private Secretary of President of India to look into the matter.
