HMAR INPUI has no authority to interfere govt. decision for bringing peace – Jiribam CSOs

Two powerful civil society organsations of Jiribam district have strongly reacted to the statement of HMAR INPUI showing their intention to segregate Manipur into pieces.
The HMAR INPUI – the apex body of the Hmar tribe, having its general headquarter at Churachandpur district in Manipur, in a statement stated that no designated camp of the UNLF group that had entered peace deal with the government of India should not establish its designated camp in the jurisdiction of Kuki –Zo—Hmar area inside Manipur.
A statement jointly released by Jiribam-based CSOs – United Jiri Youth League (UJYL) and the Jiribam Development Organisation (JDO) said that the HMAR INPUI statement is nothing but a claim that the area inhabited by the Kuki-Zo-Hmar community including Jiribam inside Manipur is their land.
“There is no such place as land of Kuki-Zo-Hmar in Manipur”, the joint statement said adding that the HMAR INPUI is not an authority to decide the decision of the government of India on where or which locations can be used as designated camps of UNLF which signed peace deal with the government to bring peace and harmony in the region. The organizations also warn the HMAR INPUI to not interfere with the government’s decisions for initiating peace in the region. It added that any untoward incident arising out of their inference should be held responsible by the HMAR INPUI.
