HM Govindas and team visit Kamjong villages

Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam and a team of MLAs today visited border villages in Kamjong district that came under militant attack to assess the security situation along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The Minister and his team visited Choro, Wanglee Market and Namlee villages, where suspected cadres of KNA-B allegedly carried out coordinated attacks on May 7. According to local reports, around 300 armed militants reportedly crossed into Indian territory from Myanmar near Border Pillars 5 to 10 and launched assaults on villages along the frontier.
During the attack, several houses and vehicles were reportedly set ablaze, shops looted and villagers forced to flee amid heavy gunfire. Officials said the militants later retreated towards Myanmar allegedly carrying looted materials and stolen vehicles.
During the visit, Govindas Konthoujam interacted with affected residents, reviewed the extent of damage and held discussions with local authorities and security personnel regarding measures to strengthen security in the vulnerable border region.
