Heroin powder worth around Rs. 70 lakhs seized by Mao Police

A team of state police stationed at Mao Police Station in Manipur’s Senapati district detected and seized suspected heroin powder worth around Rs 70 lakhs in international market during a regular frisking and checking of vehicles at Mao gate,110 km north of Imphal on Saturday,reports said.
Inspector Worchipem Ngalung, Officer in Charge of Mao Police Station led police team stopped one Tata Truck (NL01L-3563) coming from Imphal towards Mao Gate for checking at Mao gat and the team detected 2 packets containing white powder suspected to be Heroin,police said.
The truck driver who identified himself as Maibam Nasir Khan (30) of Thoubal Moijing under Thoubal Police Station disclosed that it was heroin powder.
Then the two packets suspected to be heroin powder weighing about 1Kg and the Tata Truck were seized in presence of witnesses, police added. Hence a regular case under ND&PS Act has been registered for investigation.
