The Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) distributed certificates to the trainees of the 7-day horse riding course, which was held from March 26 to April 2, 2024, in collaboration with the Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club.
The program was attended by Dr. Waikhom Romesh, Head of the Department of Manipuri at GP Women’s College; Y. Surjitkumar Khuman, President of HERICOUN; and Th. Thoinu Devi, President of Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club, as the chief guest, president, and guest of honour, respectively, at the Manipur Press Club.
During the certificate distribution function, HERICOUN General Secretary Aheibam Anand expressed that the aim is to save the indigenous pony of Manipur. He further expressed that the younger generation of Manipur needs to know more about the pony horse, which played a major role in wars in the past. In the future, HERICOUN aims to organize horse riding courses in Thoubal district and other districts of Manipur. Around 120 participants took part in the 7-day horse riding training course.”
