Imphal, Apr 17:
In a move aimed at restoring peace and stability in the conflict-affected areas of Sekmai Assembly Constituency, local MLA Heikham Dingo Singh has underscored the pressing need for setting up multiple security outposts from Tairenpokpi to Kanglatongbi in Imphal West district.
During a visit to the Kangchup Chingkhong Relief Camp yesterday, the MLA reiterated that the immediate establishment of a security outpost at Kangchup would be taken up on priority. He informed that a formal proposal in this regard would be submitted to the competent authorities without delay.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the prevailing situation in the area and take stock of the conditions faced by the internally displaced persons (IDPs) currently taking shelter in the camp. The MLA personally interacted with displaced residents, including several whose names had reportedly been removed from the list of relief recipients. He acknowledged their grievances and expressed his solidarity with them.
Speaking to the media, Heikham Dingo highlighted the severe impact of the ongoing conflict on various parts of Sekmai AC and reaffirmed his commitment to advocate for the early rehabilitation of displaced families. While acknowledging the emergence of relative calm in certain areas, he emphasized the necessity of sustained administrative support and a visible government presence to consolidate peace.
