Heibong Makhong FC clinches 6th Village Level Open 9 Men A-side Football tournament 

The final match of the 6th Village Level Open 9 Men Aside Football Tournament 2026, organised by Langmeidong Mamang Leikai Citizen Club, was held today at Langmeidong with Heibong Makhong FC Uchiwa emerging as champions after defeating Arrow FC Kakching Khunou in the title clash.
Hiyanglam MLA Dr. Yumnam Radheshyam attended the event as Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he stated that at a time when mistrust prevails in Manipur and young aspiring sportspersons are affected by the prevailing situation, there is a need to channel the energy of the youth towards sports and other constructive activities. He observed that guiding young people in the right direction would help in building a better society and appreciated the initiatives taken up by clubs and civil society organisations.
The MLA stated that developmental works in Manipur had been severely affected over the past three years due to the ongoing crisis. While efforts were undertaken to restore peace, he said that financial constraints further slowed developmental activities.
Dr. Radheshyam further stated that with the formation of the new government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand, previously stalled projects have begun to move forward and several developmental initiatives have been initiated. He expressed hope that the expansion of the government would take place soon.
Referring to relief measures for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), he informed that the new government would soon deposit Rs. 2,400 into the bank accounts of each IDP for the purchase of mattresses. He also stated that although an earlier announcement had assured Rs. 1 lakh as relief assistance to each IDP, only a few beneficiaries had received Rs. 20,000 while many were yet to receive any amount. He added that those who have not received the sanctioned relief would be credited the due amount in their respective accounts.
The MLA also stated that Langmeidong Higher Secondary School, one of the few residential institutions catering to students from underprivileged sections, has completed construction of its hostel facility and that the hostel would soon be made operational.
