Hate crime towards NE people should be taken seriously: Opposition MLAs

Imphal, July 22: Alleged hate crime in the national capital New Delhi towards the North East people was brought up by MLA Karam Shyam and MLA Dr. I Ibohalbi during zero hour of the ongoing state legislative session. Karam Shyam drew the attention of the house regarding the various form of hate crime committed by the mainland Indian people towards the North Eastern people saying that the people from the region were unable to live a free live in the national capital. He said when the people were demanding justice to the victims of racial discrimination in the major cities of India another Manipuri was killed yesterday in the capital. The MLA was referring to the killing of one Salaoni, a Manipuri by some unidentified persons in South Delhi. He said the National capital has become endangered place for the North east people.

MLA Dr. I Ibohalbi also drew the attention of the house saying that it is the need of the hour that the government took the matter seriously. “It is time that the government sent an investigation committee to find out the truth”, he added.
