Has the Chief Minister misled the House?

Imphal July 31: “Has the Chief Minister of the state, who is also the leader of the House misled the House or was he wrongly informed?”, this is the new question arises in the state after the state Chief Minister, O. Ibobi, made the statement that a sum of Rs.338.38 Lakhs has been utilized and 80% of the work has been complete with the construction of an Integrated Tourist Circuit at Longa Koireng situated between Imphal and Tamei.

It may be mentioned that Manipur Chief Minister, O. Ibobi made the statement on Friday, the 25th July, 2014, during the recently concluded Assembly Session, in his response to a question asked by Dikho.

However, the statement turned out to be a false statement as there is no such work (Construction of an Integrated Tourist Circuit) has been undertaken at Longa Koireng till date.

According to a press statement signed by S. Sokhel, Khullakpa of Longa Koireng Village and W. Khelsong, Secretary, Longa Koireng Village Authority said that the inhabitants of Longa Koireng have decided not to allow construction of such work even in the future. It further appealed to the State Government and the state Tourism Department not to take up such work and construction at Longa Koireng against the interest of Longa Koireng.
