Hand grenade found

Unknown miscreants planted a 36-HE hand grenade at the residence of Professor Hijam Tombi Singh, 82, former Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, on Saturday morning.
According to police reports, the explosive was found at the gate of Professor Tombi’s residence at Sagolband Tera Yengkhom Leirak under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district at around 5:30 am.
The grenade, which was suspected to have been planted by unidentified persons, was detected and later safely defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad of Manipur Police at around 8:10 am. The defused grenade was subsequently disposed of at the Lamphel dumping site by 8:30 am, and the operation was completed by 8:51 am.
