Guv’ withhold ‘Shri Shri Govindaji Temple (Third Amendment) Bill, 2014; assented 4 bill passed by the house

Governor of Manipur has withheld from giving his assent to the controversial Shri Shri Govindaji Amendment Bill, 2014 which was passed by the house in the previous 8th session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly. This was presented in the house on the first day of the 9th session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Session which began today by the Secretary of the Assembly Secretariat.
A total of six bills including the controversial Shri Shri Govindaji Amendment Bill, 2014  were passed in the previous session. Among them 4 of the Bills have been given assent by the governor while another bill which need to get assent from the President of India has also been withhold. Various religious group of the state has been opposing the Shri Shri Govindaji Amendment Bill 2014, urging the government for its withdrawal.
The four bill assented by the governor are The Manipur Appropriation (No.3) Bill, 2014; The Salaries and Allowances of Members of the Legislative Assembly (Manipur) Twentieth Amendment Bill, 2014; The Salaries and Allowances of Ministers (Manipur) Twelfth Amendment Bill, 2014 and the Manipur Conservation of Paddy Land & Wetland Bill, 2014.
The Manipur Protection of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) Bill, 2012 has been withheld from giving assent by the president of India.
