Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Power Minister Th. Bishwajit, MAHUD Minister Y. Khemchand and MLA RK Imo among others greet the people of the state on the occasion of Khongjom Day which falls on April 23, 2024.
Khongjom Day is observed every year to pay homage to our valiant heroes of the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891, Khongjom Day has immense significance for the people of Manipur.
In her message Governor Anusuiya Uikey, greets the people of Manipur on the occasion of Khongjom Day.
“On this day in 1891, valiant Manipur’ soldiers led by Paona Brajabashi fought a fierce battle with British forces at the southern fringes of Manipur valley at Khongjom. Paona Brajabashi and hundreds of his brave soldiers died in the battle fighting the enemy. Their courage and heroism is of utmost relevance today when the state is faced with divisive forces who are bent upon destroying the state’s age old fabric of harmonious living,” Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said in his message.
