A total of 17 persons are having armed license to possess 9 mm pistol in Manipur. This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who is also in-charge of Home department while replying to a question asked by MLA Th. Bishwajit during question hour today. Bishwajit also asked to provide the names of the those persons possessing license 9 mm pistol, however, the Home minister said that as those having the license are having high threat perception it is not right to give the list of the persons. Gaikhangam further said that the license for 9 mm is provided by the Union Home Ministry after thorough enquiry and with the recommendation of the state Home department.
