Guild GB meeting

Imphal, Aug 13: The 2nd Annual General Body meeting of the editor Guild Manipur (EGM) was held today at the Conference Hall of Classic Grande.
Director of IPR Meghachandra Kongbam, Founder Editor of Aza daily Newspaper Valley rose and president of EGM Ahongshangbam Mobi graced the occasion as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively.
General secretary of the EGM, Rapachandra Yumnam, in his speech elaborated on how the EGM was born. He said that editors of various newspaper in the state sometime face extreme of form of pressures for publication of news item which are of the individual’s or organisation’s interest in the state of Manipur.
He recalled the incident at which bomb were even planted to the residence of the editor and also at media houses in order to get publication of press statement released by outlawed organization.
“It was at such time that we need to unite and stand against all form of pressures to protect our ethics of journalism”, Rupachandra said.
Later he presented the report of the activities of the EGM and its future prospect.
