Khurmi Region, GPRN/NSCN vehemently condemned the irresponsible conduct of Minister Okendro Singh for implementing tourist destination project at Sharkuchang range under the jurisdiction of Khulsaibung village in Chandel district, without the consent of concerned village authority.
According to GPRN release signed by P Tongsin, the minister’s action was termed as reckless for personal interest, and contended that as per govt approved sanctioned order code 4338, sub head 03 Manipur project Tourism buildings, the original spot for the Tourist Destination Development Project was to be implemented at Isin Thingbi Lake
Therefore, GPRN appeals the minister to halt construction work and immediately shift his dream project to the original spot.
The release also stated that the Sharkuchang range has been inhabited by tribal since time immemorial and as such encroachment of land shall not be tolerated. ‘The hill and valley people must avoid being entangled in communal web to prevent creating tension and fear psychosis in the surrounding’ added the statement.
While stating that GPRN was not adverse to development but manner in which the state government enforcing its project without taking confidence of the stakeholders was unwarranted it alleged that a building constructed at Sharkuchang range has turned into destination spot for party hogs, which according to the GPRN statement was highly to cause unwanted incidents, endangering peaceful co-existence in the neighborhood, it warned that ignorant of the appeal made herein may lead to occurrences of untoward incidence which Okendro will be solely held responsible.
