Imphal, Sept 14: The state government is taking seriously to the report about massive poppy cultivation at different part of the state. On the regard, the Multi-Disciplinary Level Coordination Committee Meeting is scheduled to hold at the conference hall of Manipur Secretariat (South Block) to discuss the strategy to contain illicit poppy cultivation in the Manipur’s interior territory. The meeting which will be chaired by the Chief Secretary will also discuss in dept about the various action plan to be taken up for the year 2016-17 besides charting out strategy to contain the cultivation for the year 2015-16. Top officials of the Manipur Police including the DGP, IGP (Intelligence), SPs of Chandel, Senapati, Churachandpur, Ukhrul and NAB, Deputy Commissioners of said district, IG of Assam Rifles (South), top functionaries of Excise, Customs and NCB will attend the meeting. A source added that Additional Chief secretary, principal Secretary, Commissioner of Revenue, Forest, Agriculture, Horticulture, Tribal Affairs, RD & PR/ IPR and Social Welfare will also attend the meeting as special guest.
