Even as preparation of Manipur Government Employees List (MGEL) for over 12,000 teachers in state Education department has been completed there are still around 1,011 teachers yet to be verified. This was stated by Education Minister M. Okendro while replying to BJP MLA Th. Biswajit during question hour today. The education Minister said that the total staff strength in the education department is 19,487 including none teaching employees. Out of this a total of 203 teaching staffs are yet to begin verifications.
On the matter of the transfer and posting for school teachers the department is yet to have a concrete policy as DP needs to issue a notification even as the state cabinet has approved it.
