The Governor of Manipur reviewed the stock position of petroleum fuel and LPG in the state, which has been depleting due to frequent landslides disrupting movement along NH-2 and NH-37, the two key lifelines of Manipur. The review meeting with all stakeholders was held on August 29.
To replenish stocks and ensure uninterrupted supply for both domestic and commercial requirements, it was decided that the State CAF&PD Department, in coordination with Manipur Police and the Indian Oil Corporation Limited, would arrange a special convoy exclusively for petroleum fuel and LPG.
The convoy includes 158 tanker trucks carrying petrol and diesel, 5 tankers of aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and 29 tankers of LPG. Officials confirmed that the vehicles left Jiribam for Imphal early in the morning of August 30 and are expected to reach within two to three days.
The state government has assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to maintain adequate fuel availability and meet the requirements of the people.
