On the occasion of Manipur Statehood Day, observed on January 21, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and National People’s Party National Vice President I. Hemochandra extended their greetings to the people, highlighting the historical significance of the day and the need for unity and progress.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla said Statehood Day marks a proud moment in Manipur’s history, commemorating its attainment of full statehood on January 21, 1972. He described the day as a milestone in the state’s journey of democratic governance, cultural identity and development. The Governor noted Manipur’s rich heritage and vibrant traditions, and acknowledged the contributions of its people in the fields of art, sports, culture and public service at the national level. He called upon citizens to renew their commitment to peace, unity and inclusive growth, expressing hope for a future of harmony, stability and prosperity for all.
NPP National Vice President I. Hemochandra also conveyed his greetings to the people of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura on their Statehood Day. Recalling that the three states attained statehood under the North-Eastern Areas (Re-organisation) Act, 1971, on January 21, 1972, he acknowledged their contributions to national development. Hemochandra said Statehood Day is a moment of pride and joy, as well as an occasion for reflection on achievements and planning for a secure future. He urged all sections of society to work collectively for peace, stability and continued progress.
