Governor of Manipur, Lakshman Prasad Acharya inaugurated Boys’ Hostel building and Mess with dining-hall in the hostel premises today at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Manipur, Mantripukhri.
Governor inspected the newly inaugurated hostel building and mess building.The newly inaugurated hostel is equipped with the state of art facilitylike water filters,hot-water-Geysers, washing machines, Metal-cots, Reading tables and almirahs. Hotel campus is Wi-Fi enabled with 24×7 power supply with DG back-up. It will accommodate around 120-150 students with dining capacity of about 150 students in a given time.
As part of the inauguration programmes, Governor led in the tree plantation drive in the campus which was held under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”.
Addressing the gatherings, Governor said, the IIITs have been at the forefront of technological education, fostering innovation, research, and development. With the addition of such new facilities in IIIT Manipur, the institutewill provide an even more conducive environment for learning and growth for the students, he asserted. He further encouraged the students of this institute to make the most of the newly inaugurated infrastructures not only for nourishment to the body but also for intellectual nourishment and ensure that it becomes a sanctuary of knowledge, discipline and mutual respect. Governor also expressed happiness on learning that for the first time, one student from Manipur have enrolled in the institute from the coming session.
Dr Sukhi Oraon, Chairman of Board of Governance, IIIT Manipur and Prof. Krishnan Baskar Director, IIIT Manipur also graced the inaugural function.
