Governor and Speaker extend Yaoshang greetings

Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, have extended their greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of the Yaoshang Festival, which begins tomorrow.
In his message, Governor Bhalla highlighted that the Festival of Colours—Holi, known as “Yaoshang” in Manipur—is celebrated at the onset of spring by the Vaishnavite community. He described it as a vibrant festival symbolizing the renewal of life and spirit, bringing people together in a joyous celebration of colours. “Yaoshang Festival in the state has evolved into a dynamic sports movement, with communities organizing various sporting events throughout the festival. The essence of these activities lies in inclusivity, fostering participation across all age groups and genders,” the Governor stated.
Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh also extended his best wishes, emphasizing that Yaoshang symbolizes unity, harmony, and the triumph of good over evil. “Let us use this occasion to strengthen the bonds of unity among our diverse communities and reaffirm our commitment to peace and harmony in our beautiful state of Manipur,” he wrote in his message.
The Yaoshang Festival, deeply rooted in the cultural and spiritual traditions of Manipur, continues to foster communal harmony and participation across generations.
