Imphal, Dec 24:

Oinam Romen Singh, the Intending Candidate of Singjamei Assembly Constituency in the upcoming State General Assembly Election 2022 in the National People’s Party (NPP) Ticket categorically said that in democracy electors have right to chose candidate of their own choice and no Candidate can win their hearts by threatening them. Addressing the gathering in a Political Conference held at Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Imphal West District, Manipur organised by the Booth Committee, Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, 13/24 and 13/25 this afternoon, Romen said that the act of threatening cannot work in Democracy and hence the electors should overthrow such kind of wild act and dictatorship.
Romen Singh further said that the majority of the Singjamei people especially the youths and women had not been getting any benefit initiated by the government meant for such people because of the lack of people centric policies of the sitting MLA. How many youths of the Constituency have been benefitted with various welfare schemes of the youths like Start-up and Stand-up schemes etc. asked Romen Singh. It indicates that he does not want to do anything for the welfare of the youths of the Constituency as a whole however he woes them to give more government jobs. It is very unfortunate. Intimidating such people only in the time of Election should be stopped. If he wants to do politics in the Constituency in the long run, he should give up such kind of behaviour. Behavioural change is very much needed, Romen stressed.
Romen said that there are numerous Booth Committee Offices of his rival Candidate who is also the sitting MLA of the Constituency meant only to coordinate the Electors, but remain the places of drugs and other intoxicants. It easily knows his mentality that he is not for the people but only thinks for his Election. There comes the time for the intellectual Electors of the Constituency for justifying it in a very proper way such a way that the electors can choose the right Candidate, he claimed.
Pointing out that Drug is the main hindrance in the development of a Society as a whole, so the menace of drugs should be uprooted forever. Romen said that while everybody is trying to keep away drugs, why he persuades the youths to use alcoholic substances only to take his political advantage in the time of Election. It is only misguiding the youths of the Constituency. Why the Candidate who misguides the future youngsters should be elected as the representative of the Constituency, he enquired.
Appealing to listen to the voice of the youths, Romen said that while the youths of the Constituency pledge for a change in the Constituency, no other activities hurting the youths should be stopped with immediate effect. He said that the sitting MLA is now visiting each and every household to capture the hearts of the electors. It indicates that he only sees the voters for his political gain when in the time of Election. In the past few years of his tenure, he was not aware of the welfare of the people. His act of capturing the hearts of the electors of the Constituency shows that the act seems null and void.
Romen further said that there should not be any warfare of exchanging words among the Candidates, the activities of the welfare of the youths and the people of the Constituency should be showcased instead. He said that his activities have been known by the people of the Constituency for the last seven years even though he is not an elected person. What are the activities of the other Candidates to be shown to the public so far, Romen asked.
