While condemning the “violence” at CCpur district, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Gaikhangam has categorically stated that the three ILPS bills would not affect the sentiments or interests of the hill people.
Speaking to media person at his Babupara residence, Gaikhangam, who is also the state Home Minister, said that the bills were drafted and passed after due consultation with experts. There is nothing in the bills that would affect other communities.
He also asked people to identify anomalies in the Bills and approach the government in a democratic manner instead of creating issues out of some unrelated documents.
Attacking elected representatives and destroying their properties is condemnable and an act of violence, said Gaikhangam.
Regarding the banning of social media and mobile internet in the state, the Home Minister said that the government took the decision to suspend social networking sites and mobile internet services in order to prevent any unwanted incidents and destruction of public properties as well as to curb the spread of false rumours.
He also informed that state government is ready to send a team to hill district to talk with protestors and bring normalcy.
