Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today said that the government is all set to hold a sitting of the state assembly to pass the ILPS or a similar Bill that has been demanded by the people of the state. He however said that until the talk with the JCILPS has been finalized government still could not take a final decision to call the assembly sitting. On the matter of the recent violence at Moreh, Gaikhangam term the incident as most unfortunate, he said due to the timely intervention of the state government any unwanted occurance that could had triggered has been avoided. To the allegation regarding the inaction of the police personnel, Gaikhangam clarified that, it was the police that has been making all effort to prevent from breaking out any unwanted crisis among various communities in the town. He said government has managed to control the situation at Moreh however, to assure complete safety of all the people some security and preventive measures had to be taken up, he added. Gaikhangam however added that the complaint made against an additional Sp for being a mute spectator when the incident happened has been acknowledge and assured to look after the problem. On the non-participation of the Assam Rifles personnel Gaikhangam said that state government will request the AR authority to bring peace and tranquility in the region.
Regarding the matter of the JAC against the brutal killing of Sapam Robinhood, Gaikhangam said that the demand is similar with that of the JCILPS and he believed that if a solution can be arrived with the JCILPS then the matter of the JAC can be settled too.
Gaikhangam said this at the sideline of the observation function of the 71st Birth Anniversary at Congress Bhavan.
