Fund drive for Master Athlete

Healthy Women Society, Image of Manipur and Lalambung Makhong Takhellambam Leikai Youth Development Organisation (LTYDO) had jointly form a committee for fund drive of 61 years old Manipuri Athlete Laikangbam Inaobi Devi, who was selected to represent India in the upcoming 18th Asian Master Athletics Championship to be held from September 19 to 23 this year at Japan.In a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club today afternoon, the committee member said that Inaobi Devi survived dreaded cancer disease after being undergone treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital in 2003. In recognition to her endeavour and performances in various national athletic championships, she has been selected to participate the Asian Master Athletic Championship. As Inaobi’s family is not economically sound and at present have only around rupees 40,000, the committee thought it necessary to conduct a fund drive campaign for her fare to Japan as that has to be borne by her. Healthy Women Society had donated rupees 20,000/- and Meishnam Ibemhal Devi of MM gas had donated rupees 10,000/- for her journey fare. As the total amount require is around rupees one lakh sixty thousand. The committee appealed the people of the state to contribute for the lady who will bring laurel of the country.
