A full-dress rehearsal was conducted in preparation for the 77th Republic Day celebrations, today at Kangla, Imphal.
The rehearsal saw the participation of marching contingents from various security forces, Army veterans, NCC cadets, school students, and cultural troupes, showcasing discipline and coordination.
Altogether, 14 security personnel of different ranks will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (Republic Day–2025), the Medal for Meritorious Service (Republic Day–2025), and the Medal for Meritorious Service (Independence Day–2025).
All ceremonial activities, including parade inspection, band performances, mass drill, and cultural programmes, were rehearsed to ensure smooth coordination and timely execution on Republic Day. Top level senior police and Army officials were present to supervise the rehearsal and review the overall arrangements.
The rehearsal concluded in an orderly manner, reflecting the collective commitment, discipline, and preparedness of all participants to celebrate the Republic Day with pride and grandeur.
Jiribam:
The District Administration, Jiribam, conducted a full dress rehearsal for the 77th Republic Day celebrations, 2026, at the Jiribam Higher Secondary School playground. Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Krishna Kumar, IAS, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The Deputy Commissioner unfurled the Tricolour, followed by the National Anthem. He then inspected the parade contingents and took the salute from the marching contingents, commanded by Jitendra Prasad Keer, IPS, on probation of Jiribam District Police.
A total of 12 contingents from various organizations, including 87th Bn. CRPF, CRPF-DETT Companies, 7th Bn. IRB, District Police Jiribam, Village Defence Force, NCC, Jiri College Boys, Jiri College Girls, R.K. Sanatombi Vidyala Girls, Kasturba Girls High School and a tableaux from Jiribam Forest Division participated in the parade.
The 38 Bn. Assam Rifles Band also performed a Band display, enthralling the crowds. During the rehearsal, various cultural items were showcased, including Sorok Atingbi Nat Shankritan Pala Marup’s Pung Cholom and Vande Matram dance, performed by children of Gulamchat Open Shelter Home.
Banners highlighting the schemes and programs under various departments were displayed, and well-decorated gates of various departments were constructed in the District Headquarters, adding to the vibrant and colourful atmosphere.
The event was attended by senior officials, including Superintendent of Police Jiribam Prakhar Pandey, IPS, CO 7th IRB Semmi Ramror, MPS, Dy CO 7th IRB, Additional SPs Jiribam, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam, DLOs, and government officials of the district, as well as members of the public.
Churachandpur:
The District Administration, Churachandpur today conducted a full dress rehearsal for the 77th Republic Day celebrations at Public Ground, Hiangtam Lamka, Churachandpur.
The rehearsal began with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by march-past contingents led by Ravi Gangwar, IPS as parade commander. A total of 31 contingents in (Category A, B & C) which comprised of BSF, STC; CRPF; IRB; Civil Police; Ex-Servicemen; VDF and BSF Band Party; contingents from Category B (NCC) Rayburn High School, NCC; Churachandpur College, NCC; Bethany Christian College NCC and JNV NCC,Tuinom; contingents from various institutions (Category C), Donbosco Hr.Sec. Govt. School; JNV, Tuinom; Gandhi Memorial Government High School; Happy Heart School; Hope Baptist Academy; New Lamka Upper primary School; Vimala Raina Government High School and Churachandpur College NSS are participated in the full dress rehearsal.
Deputy Commissioner, Dharun Kumar S, IAS will be the chief guest and Ravi Gangwar, IPS will be the parade commander on Republic Day celebration on 26 January, 2026,which will be held at the same place. The DC will be unfurling of national Flag, take salute from the march past contingents and address the public. He also will inspect stalls set up by various departments and that will be followed by colourful cultural programme and prize distribution.
