Four-year-old killed, father injured in bomb blast at Taolingpung Village

A four-year-old boy was killed and his father sustained serious injuries in a bomb explosion at Taolingpung village under Khoupum Police Station in Noney district on Saturday morning.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 8:30 am when the child, Makureng Pamei (4), and his father Aku Pamei (58), son of Gailhangjei Pamei of Taolingpung village, were on their way to a nearby paddy field close to their residence. It is reported that the explosion took place after they accidentally stepped on a suspected explosive device believed to have been planted in the area.
In the blast, the minor died on the spot, while Aku Pamei sustained serious injuries to both legs. Following the incident, local residents and police personnel rushed to the spot and evacuated the injured to Raj Medicity Hospital in Imphal for medical treatment.
Police have taken up a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
