Foundation Stone laid for MIU Everest Thuilim Campus at Kulvina

Foundation Stone has been laid for the Manipur International University Campus at Kulvina near Langol Peak to be known as Everest Thuilim Campus by the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Y. Khemchand Singh in the presence of MLA D Korungthang, along with MIU Officials and Villagers of Laiching Minou and Koijam, Machi Block, Tengnoupal District on the evening of  Oct 17, 2020. It is one of the Campuses of MIU to be included in the first phase of development.

Speaking on the occasion Khemchand said that “in this Golden Land of Manipur, a very cultivated land, I believe the good work of MIU will collectively solve the hardships that our children face studying outside at the same time will also welcome students from all over the country and uplift the economy as a whole and will bring great progress in the time to come” 

MLA  D. Korungthang, said, “Foundation stone is a stepping stone for the vision of MIU and hope that the progress of MIU will soar higher and bring great change in times to come”

HTDC President RK Ajin said on the occasion “The University is not for me or any individual gain but for the people. It is for Manipur and for the people of Manipur. It is to bring equal development in the state of Manipur and it is made possible under the able leadership of the State Government of Manipur”.

MIU Vice President (S), Pushparaj said on the occasion “what we do today is not just for today but for generations to come. Quality Education and good deeds should be our legacy that we leave behind”.

Dr Harikumar Pallathadka, Chancellor of the University thanked the Villagers for their unparalleled support and promised to inaugurate the campus as soon as possible. He also expressed his gratitude towards the State Government of Manipur for their support.

Villagers of Laiching Minou and Koijam belonging to Maring Tribe expressed happiness for selecting their village for the establishment of one of the campuses of MIU. They assured all their support and co-operation for the success of this noble initiative.

The present campus has been named as MIU Everest Thuilim Campus. Thuilim means “Center of Knowledge” in Maring Dialect. So, Everest Thuilim is roughly translated as the Highest Center of Knowledge.

Tengnoupal District is one of the new districts of Manipur and it is also one of the most backward tribal districts in the country. The Asian Highway passes through the district that connects India with South East Asian countries and plays a crucial role in the success of India’s “Act East Policy”. It is one of most strategic locations of the country and it has immense potential for development.

Manipur International University (MIU) is an Autonomous State Statutory International University established and recognizedby the State Government of Manipur. MIU is established by an Act of State called Manipur International University Act, 2018 and it is recognized and listed by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Govt. of India. It is also declared as an “International University of Excellence” and an “Institution of State Importance” by the State. It plans to establish various campuses across various districts of Manipur and it is dedicated to the overall development of Manipur.
