Forest dept bans entry of livestock inside Keibul Lamjao Natl. Park

Forest department has banned the entry of livestock inside the premises of the of Keibul Lamjao National Park to prevent the wild animals in the National Park from contacting with livestock infected by a highly contagious viral disease. A notification in the regard has been issued by the Deputy Conservator of Forests / Park & Sanctuary Government of Manipur, to all the range Forest Officers and related beat Offciers of the Keibul Lamjao National Park to take take immediate necessary actions to prevent entry of livestock inside the keibul Lamjao national park to avert any undesirable eventualities.
The notification is issued in the aftermath of report about the spread of foot and mouth disease (FMD) a highly contagious viral disease to cattle at Thoual and Churanchandpur district.
